Last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley
Last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley
You will all have to bear with me this week. We lost a beloved dog over the weekend, a 15+ year-old Corgi mix (sordid lineage?) and I'm going to be a bit self-indulgent and run through some music that reminds me of Maxx.
Such a sad song. It will always bring back sad memories of losing another family pet. And such a sad story behind today's performer. Jeff Buckley was a songwriter and guitarist from Anaheim, California. HIs father was also a singer-songwrirter who went by the name Tim Buckley. Tim would hardly know his son and died of a drug overdose in 1975. Jeff learned how to play the guitar after finding an acoustic guitar in his grandmother's closet. He spent years playing in various struggling bands spaning a diverse range of music. Jeff then moved to New York City in 1990, then right back to California after having made a bit of a name for himself. HIs father's former manager helped record Buckley's first demo which lead to some more opportunities. BUt it was at a tribute concert for his father that jeff Buckley really made an impression. In mid 1993 Buckey recorded his only album, Grace, that contained today's perfectly song. While working on his second album in Memphis, Buckley would die in an accidental drowning at age 30.
