You will all have to bear with me this week. We lost a beloved dog over the weekend, a 15+ year-old Corgi mix (sordid lineage?) and I'm going to be a bit self-indulgent and run through some music that reminds me of Maxx.

Today's artist, Dinah Washington, was known as "Queen of the Blues" because of her strong voice and emotional singing. Although she passed away at the tender age of 39 from an accidental overdose of prescription diet pills mixed with alcohol. She had just married football player DIck "Night Train" Lane six months earlier (her seventh and final marriage).
