You will all have to bear with me this week. We lost a beloved dog over the weekend, a 15+ year-old Corgi mix (sordid lineage?) and I'm going to be a bit self-indulgent and run through some music that reminds me of Maxx.

Formed in the distant, heady days of 1990, New Orleans' Cowboy Mouth take their name from from a play co-written by Sam Shepard (the phrase is head on the 1985 Bb Dylan song "Sad Eyed Lady of The Lowlands"). Unlike the usual 90s band, these boys have managed to stay together while recording and touring. That isn't to say that Cowboy Mouth haven't gone through the musicians over the past 20 years. Sure, we're not talking Jethro Tull numbers here, but still…

I had that dream again the other night. The one where I ask for suggestions for Songs of the Day and suddenly my PM mail box is overflowing with quality, well-thought-out responses. Its like 6 or 7 months before I make my way through all of them. I am so very happy. The sky seems bluer, our children better behaved. Heck, my hair even starts growing back. And then I wake up and our clock radio is in pieces all over the bedroom floor.
